Somali Pirates

We came across an article in the news this weekend that put a new spin on our move to Rwanda and added another element to our prayers for God to bless our transition.

Somalian pirates have been attacking ships up and down the east coast of Africa. If the attack is successful they take the ships to a Somalian port and hold it for ransom.

Last week they attacked a container ship off the coast of Tanzania! That’s where our container ship is headed to transfer the container to a truck to ship it to Kigali!

Here’s the news article if you’d like to read it: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081207/ap_on_re_af/piracy_5

So the boys prayed this morning that pirates would not be able to attack and capture our container ship.

What an interesting twist to our transition! In all things may the Lord protect and guide us during this time!

ARRRGH!!! That’s scary!! I’ll be praying for a smooth, easy & non-eventful transition…with NO pirates!!!

  2. Rachel says:

    PIRATES?! I’m praying.

Wow! We have been following the pirate activity reported in the news, but I never thought about the connection with anyone we know. We will be adding this to our prayers for your family. It was so good to see your extended family at Homecoming at Harding. We had the best visit with Georgia while Luke and Anna played with the kids on the GAC lawn for about an hour after the picnic. We love you guys.

These pirates have been in the news a lot here, but I didn’t think about it with your shipment. We’ll be praying about that. They actually tried to attack a cruise ship last week, but the cruise ship actually outran their speed boats. I guess those things’ size is deceptive. If it’s any consolation, most of what they hijack does eventually get released — but we’re gonna pray that it doesn’t come to that!

    I’ll be in prayer…

  6. I’ll certainly send an extra prayer for the container to make the transition smoothly. We also keep you and your family in our prayers as you make this move to continue to spread God’s word.

    God Bless!
